How to choose a candelilla wax?
Choose according to the application
A stick, a balm, a cream, a moulded candle or a paper coating does not require the same behavior. Balms, creams and other cosmetic products require a texture adapted to the skin; a candle wax must meet the constraints of the flame and the wick. Define the properties to be controlled for the product or support actually used.

In a cosmetic formula, bring the candelilla together with the vegetable oils, other waxes and the intended ingredients. Jojoba oil, coconut oil, shea butter or other fatty substances can change the consistency. For a scented candle, include the fragrances, scents, dyes or pigments in the test of the complete recipe.

The INCI name is Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Cera. It is used to identify the ingredient in the cosmetic context. This refined vegetable wax is available in pellets. Its identity is not sufficient to define the composition, claims or conditions of use of the finished product.
Candelilla is of plant origin, while beeswax is of animal origin. They can be considered for consistency functions in certain formulations, but are not automatically interchangeable. A replacement requires reviewing the proportions and checking the texture and final use.
Candelilla is a hard wax, but less hard than carnauba wax. This difference helps guide the choice of a structuring material. It does not alone predict the durability of a stick or a coating: the complete composition and the process play a role in the result.

The Food Contact mention should not be confused with a grade authorizing food use direct. The coating of confectionery is an application to be qualified with its precise conditions.
