How to use soy wax to make a container candle?

Prepare the materials
Gather the wax pellets, a wax melter, a thermometer, a scale, a wick with its base, heat-resistant containers, a fragrance and a colorant.
Clean, dry equipment dedicated to candles.

Calculate the quantity
Measure the useful volume of each container, then weigh the wax required during a first test before launching a complete series.
Record the weight retained by pot reference.

Fix and center the wick
Stick the base of the wick to the bottom of the pot, then keep it straight using a centering device throughout the pour.
Diameter to be validated by a combustion test.

Melt the wax
Melt the pellets in the wax melter or in a water bath, gradually increasing the temperature until the pieces completely disappear.
Do not exceed 90°C.

Add fragrance and coloring
Incorporate the fragrance then, if necessary, the dye into the melted wax and mix gently for homogeneous distribution, without bubbles.
Incorporation 65–75 °C, dosage 6 to 10%.

Pour into containers
Slowly pour the wax into the prepared pots, keeping the wick perfectly centered and the container stable on a work surface.
Casting 65–75 °C, to be validated by testing.

Let it cool
Let cool to room temperature, on a flat surface, away from drafts and sudden temperature variations.
Never in the refrigerator: cracks and peeling.

Let it mature, then test
Let the candle mature so that the wax and fragrance stabilize, then carry out a complete burn test before putting it on sale.

The fragrance is dosed onto the wax mass. Start at the lower limit, then adjust after diffusion and combustion tests, without exceeding the regulatory limit specific to the fragrance.

A candle that remains in its container requires a Container type wax. For a whipped decor, choose a Chantilly wax; for a candle intended for unmolding, choose a Pilar wax.
