What is the double wooden wick used for?
The double wooden wick is used to manufacture container candles which remain in their container. It feeds the flame from the melted wax and contributes to the functioning of the candle.
It is suitable for ranges of handmade candles in glass jar, ceramic or metal. A candle manufacturer can be studied for a limited edition, personalized candles or a regular range intended for the sale of candles and interior decoration.
The exposed wood can personalize a decorative candle, gift boxes or a collection of original candles for the home. The choice of shape contributes to a warm and coherent presentation with the container.

How to use the double wooden wick?

Choose the container
Take a pot designed to make candles and measure its internal diameter as well as its useful height.
Keep the final format for testing.

Check the dimensions
Choose the format and length of wick taking into account the level of wax and the final recipe.

Assemble the support
Insert the wooden wick into the support provided and check its hold.
Check that the wick is maintained.

Secure and center
Fix the support to the bottom with a system adapted to the project.
Center the assembly in the pot.

Prepare the recipe
To melt the wax, use a wax melter or a bain-marie suitable for candle making. Melting and melting point depend on the wax chosen. Then incorporate the fragrance and the coloring according to their instructions, then homogenize the scented wax before pouring.
Follow the temperatures of the chosen wax.

Sink the candle
Pour the liquid wax into the containers provided, keeping the base and the wick in the center. Allow to cool and harden according to the formula protocol. Once the candle has solidified, check the filling level and respect the rest time before the first test.

How to choose your double wooden wick?
Sizes and variations available
Three formats offered: D13, D16 and 20, each in length 160 mm (16 cm). Total thickness announced: 2 mm, corresponding to the assembly of two wooden wick strips. The dual wooden wick is offered for the container candles. The announced compatibilities concern soy, rapeseed and coconut vegetable waxes, as well as paraffin. Test the exact formula: a wax or mixture is not valid on its name alone. A soy wax, a mixed vegetable wax and a paraffin wax can be presented in pellets, in flakes or in slabs: this presentation does not replace the formulation instructions. If you use beeswax or another base not documented for the range, have its use confirmed before starting the tests.
Choose according to the fragrance
The choice of scents accompanies that of the wick: gourmet vanilla, floral lavender, woody cedar or citrus are all examples of olfactory universes to work with fragrances for candles. To fragranceer your wax, choose a suitable fragrance and its actual dosage. An essential oil or scented oils also require verification of their destination and their instructions for use; their origin is not enough to establish their compatibility.
Choose according to the container
The width or diameter of the wooden wick describes the part, not the recommended diameter of the candle. Measure the pot, check the position of the support and compare several assemblies when the choice remains open.
Choose according to production
Keep a reference copy and a manufacturing sheet indicating the size, batch, wax, fragrance, coloring and container. This traceability makes it possible to reproduce the validated assembly during subsequent orders.

Prepare a suitable attachment for the pot and check the hold of the support. Use a centering accessory compatible with your mounting if necessary. Pour the wax while maintaining the position of the wick, then check its axis after cooling.
The exposed part must be prepared according to the instructions of the wick and the results of the assembly validated. The total length sold is used for manufacturing; it does not correspond to the height of wick to be left above the wax during use.
The sound depends on the wood, the preparation and the finished candle. Check the result with your recipe before promising crackling to your customers. The shape alone does not guarantee sound intensity or combustion duration. Before lighting a candle, check its preparation; then observe the lit candle, its combustible wax and the walls of the pot. A modification by adding stearin requires repeating this comparison.
Observe the weld pool, flame height, deposits and the behavior of the container over several cycles. Repeat the choice of wick and the recipe parameters, changing only one factor at a time. Keep the observations of each test.
One sachet contains 1,000 wicks. With one wick per candle, this represents 1,000 theoretical assemblies before prototypes and discarded parts. A multiple wicks assembly reduces this number; also plan the quantities necessary for the tests.
